Saturday I went to Streeat, a street food festival that tours Milan and other Italian cities every year. Here you can find lots of food trucks, mostly selling mouth-watering Italian specialties. I tell you, this might very well be my favorite festival... Makes you regret not having more space in your stomach to fit it all in! The setting wasn't the worst either... Not to mention the wonderful sunny day. We certainly tried some of the food on offer: Pittule: small deep-fried balls made of a dough similar to bread, fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Wagyu beef burger: with cream of burrata, bacon, basil leaves and strawberries, served in crunchy bread. (Sorry, it was too good and I forgot to take a picture before eating most of it!) Tuscan cold cuts platter: on unsalted bread, with cheese, honey and preserves. L'Eclair de Génie: pistachio and raspberry éclair.
Despite the latest trend and because of my aversion to everything that's "too sweet", this was the first éclair I've ever tried. I actually really enjoyed it because the tartness of the raspberries contrasts the sweet flavor of the pistachio cream on top, and the crunchy toasted pistachios add a nice touch. This was overall a super tasty experience, I can't wait to go back in September - and hopefully take many more pictures!
